November 13th, 2007 · No Comments

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Chris Dodd will the featured guest at a “Cookies and Conversation” event next Monday, Nov. 19th in Levitt Hall at the Drake University campus in Des Moines, Iowa.

The event, which begins at 11:30 a.m., is co-sponsored by IowaPolitics.com and Drake University and is free and open to the public. It’s the fourth in a series of presidential forums where presidential candidates answer questions about the upcoming election and audience members are treated to free cookies which are made from the candidates’ favorite cookie recipe.

Although the event is free, reservations are required because seating will be limited. For reservations, call 271-3747 or send an email to Iowacaucuses@drake.edu.

Dodd, D-Conn., is in his fifth term in the U.S. Senate. Prior to his tenure in the Senate, he served three terms in the U.S. House.

Dodd, who is chairman of the Senate banking, housing and urban committee, co-authored the Family and Medical Leave Act. He was endorsed in August by the International Association of Fire Fighters, a group which helped propel Sen. John Kerry to a 2004 Iowa Caucus victory.

The event, at Levitt Hall in Old Main at 29th and University, will be moderated by IowaPolitics.com’s Bureau Chief Chris Dorsey. Doors open to the public at 11:15 a.m. Free parking will be available in Drake parking lots at 26th and University and 25th and Carpenter Ave.

Plans also are being formulated for future Cookies and Conversation events which are tentatively scheduled for Friday, December 7th and Thursday, December 20th.
